Inclusion and Intervention in Key Stage 3

  • All pupils on the SEND and Below Age Related Expectations registers have a My Support Plan or IEP and a link TA (Teaching Assistant) to help support them to access the mainstream curriculum.
  • Alternative curriculum pathways are part of the SEND offer at BVGA, this includes a Nurture group provision for KS3. The Nurture Group receives small group teaching by specialist teachers in a dedicated area.
  • SEND pupils, if required, are provided with bespoke timetables to meet individual needs.
  • Our TA team provides in class support.
  • We provide subject specific small group intervention under the direction of the class teacher

We offer an extensive EAL programme for students who are new to English.

  • Jet 1 and Language Workshop
  • Jet 2 and in class support
  • Jet 3 and in class support

Our KS3 Intervention programmes include:

  • Lexia Literacy Intervention group
  • Maths Watch numeracy intervention group
  • Reciprocal Reading intervention
  • Success@ Arithmetic
  • Friendship Club (Social Skills)
  • SEMH Mentoring
  • Reading Ambassadors peer mentoring scheme.

  • All pupils on the SEND and Below Age Related Expectations registers have a My Support Plan or IEP and a link TA (Teaching Assistant) to help support them to access the mainstream curriculum
  • Alternative curriculum Pathways are part of the SEND offer at BVGA, this includes an ASDAN qualification provision for pupils in KS4. The ASDAN Group receives small group teaching by specialist teachers in a dedicated area.
  • We offer entry level English and Maths qualifications for students as an alternative to GCSE level qualifications.
  • We provide testing for and support with Exam Access Arrangements.
  • SEND pupils, if required, are provided with bespoke timetables to meet individual needs.
  • Our TA team offers in class support.
  • We provide subject specific small group intervention under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Pupils not taking a Modern Foreign Language are offered 3 hours of intervention per week providing additional support for their other curriculum areas.

  • We offer a Foundations Skills qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • We provide testing for and support with Exam Access Arrangements.
  • SEND pupils, if required, are provided with bespoke timetables to meet individual needs.
  • Our TA team offers in class support.
  • We provide subject specific small group intervention under the direction of the class teacher.
